Broward County Hopes To Curb Pill Mills

In response to Broward County’s proliferating problem with “pill mills,” the county has set up a task force to stop the meteoric rise of pain management clinics.

Broward County officials say the number of such clinics has more than doubled from August 2008 to November 2009.

The 11-member task force will work on drafting a law that would increase scrutiny on the clinics and Broward County Commissioner Kristin Jacobs has asked the County Attorney to write a law that would ban new pain management clinics from opening within the next year.
