A database that tracks controlled prescription drugs played a key role in the arrest of former Oklahoma State University basketball coach Sean Sutton last week, a state narcotics official said.
The state prescription-monitoring program showed a scattered pattern of “doctor shopping” by Sutton, which investigators and physicians often see as a red flag for potential pharmaceutical drug misuse, said Mark Woodward, Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs spokesman.
“Some go to different communities to fly under the radar, but they can’t hide from this,” Woodward said.
