The fact that West Palm Medical Center could open in unincorporated Palm Beach County despite a moratorium is more evidence that state legislators must stop the proliferation of pain clinics and that Palm Beach County municipalities should enact their own moratoriums and keep them until the Legislature can act.
Though the county shut down the clinic last week because it lacked a certificate of occupancy, Planning, Zoning and Building Director Barbara Alterman said in an interview that she expects the facility to get the necessary permits in a few days “and certainly be eligible to open.”
