Tighter regulations for pain clinics that dispense powerful prescription drugs such as OxyContin are up for consideration Thursday night by the city council.
“These clinics are dangerous. We don’t want pill pushers in our city,” said Councilman Eric Jablin.
The new regulations would put state pain clinic regulations on the city’s code enforcement books. The regulations limit how much medication and where the prescription drugs can be distributed. For example, a pain clinic could only dispense one dose of OxyContin per day per patient, except under special conditions, according to city records.
