Port Richey officer faces drug charge

A Port Richey police sergeant accused of drug trafficking has been fired.
The Drug Enforcement Administration filed a criminal complaint in Tampa federal court Thursday, and 33-year-old James Ruland was arrested and fired Friday.
The DEA began investigating Ruland last month. The criminal complaint says a confidential informant met with Ruland three times since the beginning of the year to discuss the distribution of oxycodone, a prescription painkiller.
